It is always said that the human being is composed of body and spirit. Health is not just a physical well-being, but also includes the spiritual well-being. The World Health Organization itself defines health as: "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. In this article, we are going to talk about the bodily ailments and their spiritual significance.

The head and neck region

The head is supported by the neck. As for the cervical region, there are 7 vertebrae necks that are part of the spine.

Headaches and migraines

The headaches and migraines manifested by pain in the head. Migraines can develop into chronic attacks which are considered theexpression of buried emotions. We talk about headaches like tension headache, because it expresses the emotions kept inside oneself.

neck pain

Anatomically, the neck consists of bones, muscles, joints and ligaments. The carotid artery carries blood to the brain while the jugular vein drains it. The nape and neck are very important for brain function.

Physically, a neck pain may be due to a herniated disc, muscle pain or trauma, neck joint dysfunction, or tumor.

Spiritually, neck pain would be theexpression of past trauma, but also of a recent stress. She would also be the witness of the rigidity of thought of the one who suffers from it and of the feeling of inferiority especially to face new situations.

Spiritual meaning of arm, shoulder and back pain

Arms

Anatomically, the arms contain the humerus. They consist of three muscles which are the biceps brachii, the coraco-brachialis and the brachialis. They are innervated by several nerves and are supplied by the brachial artery, the brachial veins as well as the cephalic and basilic veins.

Spiritually, the arms are considered the extension of the heart and are so related to the action of doing and receiving, authority and power.

The pains of the arms are then related to the difficulty loving what we must do, a feeling of being useless and a doubt of one's abilities from where withdrawal into oneself and self-pity for one's suffering. This applies, for example, to those who do not feel up to their position when they are someone's “right arm”.

Shoulders

In terms of anatomy, the shoulders are made up of two regions: the axillary region which corresponds to the armpit and the deltoid region or stump which corresponds to the relief of the deltoid muscle. It is made up of several joints that make it the most mobile joint complex in the human body. It helps to orient the upper limbs in space.

Shoulder pain can be due to tendinopathy, bone damage, capsulitis or bursitis.

As for spirituality, the shoulders are the ones that carry the joys, the sorrows, the responsibilities, the insecurities, the burden of actions and everything we would like to do, but we neither dare nor allow ourselves to do.

Thus, pain in the shoulders can appear in several situations:

  • when we live in a situation in which we do not feel comfortable;
  • when you want to move on without having the confidence to get there;
  • when there is a lack of support, means or help from loved ones;
  • when you want to take on yourself the sorrows of loved ones.

Here are some symptoms to be aware of.

  • For rigid and locked shoulders: this is interpreted as a heart energy blockage which goes towards the shoulder then towards the arm which gives (right arm) and the arm which receives (left arm). There is then a blockage of feelings, a holding of grudges whose pain often sits in the trapezius on the left: you paralyze your shoulders to prevent yourself from moving forward and doing what you really want.
  • For difficulties or impossibilities in raising the arm: this supposes a difficulty in flying on one's own wings and a deep conflict with her family.

Meaning of back pain

Back pain is the most common pain and one of the first reasons for consultation in France, if not in the world. It is referred to by so many names depending on its location: lumbago, kidney tower, sciatica or other low back pain. It can be a handicap and affect daily life. You should know that at the level of the spine, the back extends from the thoracic vertebrae to the lumbar vertebrae and even to the coccyx.

There are several causes of back pain. These include poor posture, overuse of the spine, trauma, scoliosis, herniated disc, etc.

And what does spirituality say? Back pain is theexpression of emotions and stress. When we face a strong emotion of sadness, the back muscles arch. The contraction is painful. Science is currently working to prove the emotional origins of back pain.

The hip and knees

Hip

Referred to as the "largest joint" in the human body, the hip is the junction between the pelvis and the femur. It is surrounded by several muscles and supported by 4 ligaments which ensure its stability.

La hip pain can manifest locally or be diffuse. When it is local, it can be felt in the groin, in the buttocks, in the leg and in the knee. When it is diffuse, its source is elsewhere, particularly in the back.

The origins of hip pain can be traumatic (dislocation, fracture), inflammatory or induced by prolonged use of corticosteroids. A herniated disc, tendinopathy as well as underlying diseases such as sickle cell disease can also be causes of this pain.

In any case, spirituality also has its opinion on the origins of hip pain. These are the psychological and emotional origins. The pelvis and the hip being in communication with the peripheral nervous system, the muscles which begin with the buttocks until those of the foot are connected to the brain by the nerves. As soon as there is a dysfunction (contraction, tension and tearing) in the muscles, a psychological and emotional shock appears. Hence the pain. A blockage on the accomplishment of a project results in pelvic-trochanteric tension.

Knees

The knee is a joint that connects the leg to the thigh. Three bones (femur, tibia and patella) are articulated there by three joints (the femoro-patellar and the double femoro-tubular). Its fluidity of movement is ensured by the cartilage that wears down over time and with use. The knee can be the site of pain that is often due to trauma. It can also crack or falter.

Spirituality speaks of the knee as theassertiveness. There is the expression "not to kneel" which indicates pride and will not to bend or give in.

A failure of the knee means repentance: we suffer without saying anything while the knees express the substance of the thought that we do not agree with the situation. It is observed in several situations such as when guilt for being right, ambition restrained or thwarted by an external cause, problems with authority, hierarchy and ego issues.

In addition, in certain stressful situations (difficulty accepting remarks or criticism from others), numbness is observed in the knees and legs.

In short, the spirit speaks to us. Let's take care of it so that it takes care of our body!
